Winemaking and aging

Produced since the 2000 vintage and a true creation of Pascal CHATONNET, Archange is a 100% Merlot wine from a plot located in the Grands Crus Classés sector of the appellation. Harvested at optimal maturity, vinified with the most modern techniques and aged in new barrels, L'Archange is, by nature, a round, supple, fruity wine offering exceptional aging potential.

In 2000, at the dawn of the 21st century, thanks to careful attention to vine cultivation, production control, and personalized winemaking, Pascal CHATONNET brought L'Archange (AOC Saint-Emilion) to the baptismal funds under the protective aura of angels of higher order, those who form the celestial court of the Lord and serve as messengers between God and Men.

The 2000 vintage, the first we hope of a countless series, is dedicated to the archangel Gabriel (Force of God in Hebrew), the herald archangel (Gabriel nuncius).

"In 2020, the ARCHANGEL produced a prodigious wine. Particularly colorful,
the wine exudes aromas of black blackberry and typical violet. The tannin is
dense, voluptuous and opulent but without heaviness thanks to an acidic tension and
remarkable mineral. The length is beautiful and the finish subtle; she permits
to appreciate without moderation the legendary finesse of this vintage in a
